Tips For Roulette
When playing Roulette the most important thing to keep in mind is that you have to play with the lowest casino edge available to you.
These tips will help to keep the casino advantage as low as possible.
- The American Roulette wheel has 36 numbers plus 0 and 00 and offers a house advantage of 5.26% while the European Roulette wheel has 36 numbers plus 0 for a better house advantage of 2.70%. The obvious Roulette game to play is one using the European wheel as it has a casino advantage almost one half of that of the American wheel.
- Try to find a casino that offers the "En Prison" option. The En Prison option cuts the house advantage in half; the American wheel game has its' edge reduced from 5.26% to 2.63% while the European wheel game has its' edge reduced from 2.70% to 1.35%. The En Prison option is exercised when the winning number is green (0 or 00 on the American wheel, 0 on the European wheel). When green wins the player has two options:
- They can surrender one half of the wager or,
- They can imprison the wager. Imprisoning the bet means setting it aside until the next spin of the wheel. If on the next spin the imprisoned bet wins the wager is returned to the player, but without the payoff. If the next spin results in the original wager losing then the bet is lost. If the wheel produces a green number winner again the bet stays imprisoned and the decision on the bet is held until the wheel is again spun.
- Avoid making the five number bet (00, 0, 1, 2 and 3). This wager has a house advantage of 7.98% while every other wager on the Roulette table has a casino advantage of 5.26%. You are better off making another bet.
Other tips include:
Looking for a flaw in the wheel by analyzing the results of a wheel over extended periods of time usually doesn't work. Modern casinos maintain the wheel and keep a sharp eye on it to guard against any bias in the wheel.
There isn't any Roulette system that works to give you a significant advantage. They usually have one or two problems with them. They usually have you increasing your bet every time you lose so that when you win you win slightly more than you lose. This might work if the game didn't have a house edge and there was no maximum limit to the amount you could wager, however this isn't the case, so they fail to work.
Decide on how you want to bet and don't change your bets with every spin. The wheel will select every number equally in time so staying with your bet it should win more often than if you keep changing with every spin. Some players study a wheel and wait until a number hasn't won for an extended period then they bet on it in the belief that it is overdue for a win.
Manage your money by deciding on acceptable losses and profits. If you reach one of these limits stop playing for the day.
