Roulette is played using a small ball which is released in one direction inside a wheel, which spins in the opposite direction. The ball bounces around inside the wheel and eventually coming to rest in a slot on the wheel. The Roulette wheel has 37 or 38 slots on it, 36 of these are coloured red and black and alternate around the wheel. The wheel also contains a zero slot (the American wheel also has a double zero slot) coloured green. Roulette players have no control over the selection of the winning number. The game is one of pure luck and it is imposable to predict the winning number.

Roulette is totally about the betting players make on the outcome of the spin. There are many ways to wager in roulette. Here are the wagers:

Inside bets (made on the numbers inside the table layout):

One number bets - pay 35 to 1 that you can predict witch of the 37 or 38 numbers on the layout (including 0 and 00) the ball will stop on.
Two number bets - pay 17 to 1 that the winning number is one of two adjacent numbers on the table layout that you select.
Three number bets - pay 11 to 1 that the winning number is one of a group of three numbers on the table layout that you select.
Four number bets - pay 8 to 1 that the winning number is in one of a group of four numbers on the table layout that you select.
Five number bets - pay 6 to 1 that one of 00, 0, 1, 2 or 3 will be the winning number (this bet is only available on double zero wheels).
Six number bets - pay 5 to 1 that the winning number is in one of two rows of three numbers on the table layout that you have selected.

Outside bets (made on an area bordering the numbers layout):

Dozens bets - pay 2 to 1 that the winning number is in a group of 12 numbers. There are three groups; 1 to 12, 13 to 24 and 25 to 36.
Odd or Even bets - pay even money that the winning number (1 to 36) will be odd or even (0 or 00 winning results in a loss).
Red or Black bets - pay even money that the winning number will be red or black (0 and 00 are green, if they win your bet loses).
Column Bets - pay 2 to 1 that the winning number will be in the column of 12 numbers on the table layout that you wagered on (There are three columns to bet on).
